At the end of the year the 12 monthly winners will be pitted against each other to choose the 2012 Debut Novel Cover of the Year. Please note that a debut novel cover is eligible in the month in which the novel is released in the US.

I feel like a cranky old lady for saying this but I don't like any of those covers. The first with the manboobs would be fine if we weren't looking at a ridiculous pose of clothing. The others bother me for very different reasoning - poor set up, fonts too complicated for good thumbnail viewing, bad images made worse by strange glowing stuff. The cleverest is Nexus but it doesn't give enough visual interest to draw someone in in large or thumbnail size. I know, I'm a scrooge.
