Covers - The Shadow Ops Series by Myke Cole

Myke Cole recently revealed the UK cover for the second novel in his Shadow Ops series, Fortress Frontier.

As we've seen many times US and UK covers often take different approaches to conveying information about novels.  I find Myke's covers interesting because the US and UK covers are similar but really have a different feel (to me at least).

Control Point (Shadow Ops 1)

Fortress Frontier (Shadow Ops 2)

Without knowing much about the novels (notice I included no descriptions), which cover or covers is/are more appealing to you? Do any of them make you think "fantasy" or "science fiction" or something else?

  1. Though I live in the US, I like the UK version of both books. Maybe it's the flames and the smoke and the chunks of earth, but the UK of Fortress Frontier makes me think fantasy more than any of them.

  2. I prefer UK covers to be honest. They are bit more mysterious and feel more real to me. They don't make say sci-fi, more like urban fantasy or thriller type books.

  3. I have to go for the UK covers as well - there is something about the darkness in both covers that has the potential for anything!

  5. I like them all but the US covers are more fantasy and the UK are more hard core sci fi/futuristic military.

  6. I actually think they are ALL incredible, the UK just inches out the US for me.

My first thought was military, but when I looked closer I did think Sci-Fi.

  7. I like the US versions because there is more "movement" and "life" in them. My instinct tells me military, international, spy, action, and supernatural. I got the supernatural from the guy in the back that appears to be controlling lightening.

  8. The thing I notice between the UK and the US is the US emphasizes the team aspects, whereas the UK ones are much more "Army of one".
