This tour focuses on my writing and my paranormal series, but also my Twelve Resolutions for 2012, as well as the resolutions of my hero in Chosen By Sin, werebeast Dex Hunt. Those of you who know Dex know he's a bit...difficult, so I'm curious to see what he comes up with. (Psst: Dex doesn't actually know it, but his “resolutions” are more like a Twelve-Step Program designed by me to get him to his HEA).

So what's Resolution #1 for me? Get Healthy

Okay, okay. I know this isn't really original, but it still tops my list. I suffer from the dreaded yo-yo weight gain/weight loss, and have almost slipped into, “Isn't it worth being a little overweight to eat what I love?” mode. The problem is, I like to eat, but I like cute clothes and feeling good about myself, too. So instead of making my resolution to lose weight, I'm resolved to get healthy. To start moving more than my admittedly super-fast typing fingers. To eat tasty but healthy food. To stop cringing whenever I look at old photos and likewise, to stop saying, “Wow, I used to look really good.”

And what's Resolution #1 for Dex Hunt?

Here's a hint from Chosen By Sin. In this discussion, Lucy is encouraging Dex to pursue Jesmina, a female vampire, despite his promise to “help” Lucy with her feline sexual heat.

“It doesn’t matter what you promised, Dex. If there’s something between you and Jes… If she’s someone you can care about, even love…”

Yes, he’d definitely given her the wrong idea about him.

He covered the hand she still had on his shoulder with one of his, then gently lowered it to her side. “You don’t get it, Lucy,” he said, his voice serious. “I like you enough to help you. To sleep with you. It’s certainly no hardship for me. But I don’t do love. I don’t love anyone. I never have and I never will. As long as you understand that—as long as you don’t interfere with me and Jes again—we’ll be okay.”

Sooooooooo...since Dex is already hot and physically healthy (pffft), his resolution is to stop fighting the notion that his Para-Ops team members, including Lucy Talbot, the team's half-feline mage, are “friends” or that he could ever love anyone. Friends and love are scary words for Dex. When you have a friend, you risk not only being let down, but letting someone down. But without friendship, we can't truly love, and that's plain sad.
