Interview with Rosalie Lario and Giveaway - Septemeber 20, 2011

Please welcome Rosalie Lario to The Qwillery.


TQ:  What would you say is your most interesting writing quirk?

Rosalie:  I can only write after consuming half a liter of vodka. Kidding! (Sometimes I wish, though.) I guess my weirdest quirk is that I have to play a soundtrack of the Amazon rainforest (no music), even if there’s a full-blown thunderstorm going on outside! Don’t know how I developed this insane quirk, and I hope it goes away. But for now, there it is. :-)

TQ:  Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Rosalie:  I’m a plotser! Every story is different. Some of them I plot out in a good amount of detail, and others flow without any in-depth plotting at all. I’ve learned to let the story and the characters guide me. Every time I’ve tried to force a detailed plot when my muse wasn’t going for it, I ended up regretting it, big time.

TQ:  What inspired you to write the Demons of Infernum series?

Rosalie:  The series started with a dream of a tortured, half-demon hero. That turned out to be Keegan, the hero of Blood of the Demon, Book 1 in the series. When I started writing Book 1, Keegan’s brothers were born. I admit to having a personal weakness for Taeg, the hero in Mark of the Sylph. His smart-assery, combined with his deep sense of loyalty, reminds me of Dean Winchester (of the CW’s Supernatural).

TQ:  What sort of research have you done to create the Demons of Infernum world?

Rosalie:  My series uses a lot of reference to Greek and Egyptian mythology. Much of that comes from my background. I double majored in Anthropology and Classical Studies as an undergraduate in college, so I love mythology! Even though the demons in my world aren’t creatures from Hell but a species of beings from another dimension, I did do some general research on demonology in preparation for this series. I also research on the Arthurian legend for Mark of the Sylph, as it does play into the storyline.

TQ:  Without giving anything away, what is/are your favorite scene(s) in Mark of the Sylph (Demons of Infernum 2)?

Rosalie:  Pretty much every scene with Taeg and Maya. Their chemistry is so explosive! If I had to pick an absolute favorite, it would be the first scene in Taeg’s apartment, when Maya starts to realize Taeg is nothing like how she thought he’d be.

TQ:  In Mark of the Sylph, who was the most difficult character to write and why? The easiest and why?

Rosalie:  The hero,Taeg, was by far the easiest character to write. His personality was so fun and easygoing, as exemplified by his smart-alecky T-shirt slogans. I had a total blast with him, and would kill to write him again. The hardest character to write was the villain, Leviathos. It took me some time to really get into his head and discover why he was so determined to ruin Taeg, his former childhood friend.

TQ:  How many Demons of Infernum novels are planned?

Rosalie:  At this point there are four planned novels (one for each of the half-brothers) and one novella featuring Cresso, an incubus friend of the brothers. I’d love to continue the series, or an offshoot of it, but only time will tell.

TQ:  What's next?

Rosalie:  Touch of the Angel, Book 3 of the Demons of Infernum series, releases on December 6, 2011. Heart of the Incubus, the novella, releases in January 2012, and Call of the Siren, the final book in the series, releases in July 2012!
