2011 Debut Author Challenge
On twitter the other day the always lovely @ParanoRomance asked if anyone had any reading challenges for 2011. I had decided to read at least one speculative fiction debut author (non-YA) per month in 2011. For me speculative fiction includes Urban Fantasy, Fantasy (High or Epic), Paranormal Romance, Science Fiction, SciFi Romance, Paranormal Mystery, Paranormal Thriller, Steampunk, and Historical Fantasy. There's more, but you get the idea.
Debut authors' books will be listed in a post on the first of each month. Please check each month's list to let us know if I've missed any debut authors. You can also let everyone participating know which book you will be reading in the comments to the post.
I've created a button for the challenge if you'd like to post it on your blog. It's not required of course. You can find the code at the top of the column on the right.
Happy New Reading Year!
Note: For the 2011 Debut Author Challenge for YA & MG books head to The Story Siren.
I'll take that challenge! I need to explore new authors.
ReplyDeleteS'ok that I don't have a blog to do the linky thing to?
No problem! And welcome to the challenge!
ReplyDeleteOw - this blogs fab! Great to find you - following and following a few of your friends too, Esp Suburban Vampire!
ReplyDeleteI was looking at your reading challenge. I already signed up for the other one you mentioned without realising it was specifically for YA - I don't mind YA but reading 12 of them might be a stretch so I'm thinking that your requirements might suit my tastes better. They'll also fit in with other reading challenges I'm participating in. So i'll sign up for yours and abandon the other (is that wrong?). Your linky isn't working so hopefully you'll just take what you need from this comment? Pop by my blog and say hi - you are on my blog roll but your can link your blog button on my list on the Blog Directories page if you like. Your challenge button will be with the others at the bottom of that page. The Selfari is playing my a blinder recently so I can't update it. I've sent a total of NINE emails and had no response AARRGH! Anyway, whenever that is sorted out the books I read will be on the left side bar on the shelf.

ReplyDeleteYou should read 12 debuts during the year. You can read them one per month or read them all in one month. It's up to you!
ReplyDeleteEek! Just checked back through the lists and realized I've only read 7 debut authors so far. Thank goodness there are 4 September and 1 October books I want to read -- I'm stll on track for 12 debuts read this year! (And I can hardly wait to see what Nov & Dec bring.)
ReplyDeleteEven though I haven't been posting each month, I really appreciate the time & effort you've put into this challenge, Q. Thanks for introducing us to some fabulous new authors!
